Joyned and TravelUp Join Forces to Supercharge Travel Booking - TRAVELINDEX - HOTELWORLDS.comAward-winning travel tech start-up Joyned has announced a new partnership with TravelUp, the UK’s leading travel arrangements company offering flights, hotels, and package holidays worldwide. Joyned’s social booking solution ‘Joyned Booking’ is now available to TravelUp visitors across the globe, playing a crucial role in enhancing the travel experience for its customers.

Joyned Booking enables people to invite friends and family to a travel website to discuss and book group trips together. By putting the power back into the hands of the vendor, every offering on their website creates a micro social network that is private, organic, and collaborative.

Joyned Booking has now been implemented within TravelUp’s hotel booking and package holidays verticals, with future plans to deploy the software onto its flight-only vertical. As well as improving engagement and conversion, it provides partners with data-driven insights to optimize their offers and increase retention. With the assistance of the team at Joyned, TravelUp is creating a seamless user experience for its visitors.

In an era where social verification holds immense importance, the need for travel sites to engage consumers effectively has never been more important, explains Craig Ashford, Chief Commercial Officer at TravelUp, who chose to partner with Joyned due to their advanced technology and unique market proposition.

“Joyned Booking brings a social feel to the TravelUp experience, allowing consumers to share holiday, hotel, and flight options with those that they are traveling with or simply with friends and family of whom they highly value their opinion, facilitating direct endorsements from connected peers,” Craig comments.

By implementing Joyned Booking for groups, travel sites like TravelUp can typically enjoy a higher conversion rate of 10% and an increase in overall website revenue. In addition, they can utilize secure and encrypted data on sentiment analysis, price perception, and mapping of the group booking customer buying journey. All this gives them the opportunity to further enrich their offering by making tailored offers and promotions a possibility.

Commenting on the partnership, Jonathan Abraham, CEO of Joyned, added: “We’re thrilled that TravelUp’s forward-thinking team has recognized Joyned as leading innovators in social commerce for travel and have decided to embark on this journey with us. This collaboration makes our social booking solution available to more travelers around the world as we strive to bring our partners an unparalleled opportunity to streamline their operations, improve customer service, and redefine the travel booking experience.”

Weeva Celebrates as Sustainable Travel Continues to Top Consumer Priorities - TRAVELNEWSHUB.comJohannesburg, SA and London, UK – Weeva celebrated one year since it launched its pioneering Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform, which is aimed at democratising access to cutting-edge sustainability management tools for the travel and tourism industry. The anniversary comes as sustainable travel trends continue to top consumer preferences.

Over its first year of operations, Weeva has built a community of over 400 individual users around the world, who are making tangible progress to improve the sustainability of their business operations and drive lasting behavioural change within their teams.

Research has shown that consumers are making a conscious choice to opt for destinations, tourism operators, hotels and airlines that are investing in sustainability, despite perceiving the industry as a whole to be making little to no effort to mitigate the impact of the climate crisis or care for local communities.[1]

Because of this and despite pressures on personal finances, consumers are willing to pay up to 10% more to travel sustainably.[2]

Julie Cheetham, Co-founder and Managing Director of Weeva, said: “When we launched Weeva last year, it was apparent that the mood was already shifting, and that there was an urgent need to help the tourism industry improve its impact on people and the planet. Our platform enables travel and tourism businesses of all sizes to measure their progress on their sustainability journeys and identify opportunities to minimise environmental impact, build commercial resilience, and contribute to preserving thriving communities and ecosystems.”

In its first year, Weeva has been used by over 200 travel and tourism businesses – predominantly hospitality providers – to collect, analyse and track data across 18 interconnected sustainability parameters. Over the course of the year, users have captured, managed and analysed a wide range of data, including:

  • 1,600 species of fauna and flora captured and recorded.
  • 1,6 million kilolitres of water consumed/used.
  • 88,000 tonnes of scope 2 carbon emissions under management.
  • 2,000 tonnes of waste recycled.
  • USD $600,000 spent on community development projects with 30,000 direct and indirect beneficiaries.

As the platform’s capabilities grow alongside its userbase, these datasets will produce longer-term insights that point to emerging trends in sustainable travel and reflect the impact that tourism businesses are having on their local environments and communities.

Lindsey Walter, Co-founder and Director of Weeva, said: “In our first year, we have grown alongside our users – listening to their needs – and this month we celebrate the Weeva community’s sustainability achievements. As we look ahead, we are doubling down on our efforts to make sustainability management as accessible and simple as possible. We can’t wait to see how our users continue to shape sustainable travel well into 2024 and beyond.”

As part of its mission to demystify sustainability management for travel and tourism businesses, on October 18, Weeva will host an open-to-all virtual masterclass entitled, How to prepare your tourism property for making a difference.

Weeva Partners with Sustainable Hospitality Alliance - TRAVELNEWSHUB.comLondon, UK – The Sustainable Hospitality Alliance has welcomed the sustainability management platform Weeva as an affiliate member to help drive collaboration on industry resilience and data-led sustainability.

Designed by sustainable tourism experts, Weeva champions small, sustainable actions, backed by consistent data management, to boost efficiency and, ultimately, profitability within the industry.

The Alliance has a wide reach in the hospitality sector, representing over 50,000 properties and 7 million rooms globally and is delighted Weeva can bring its expertise in addressing the many challenges the hospitality industry faces as it targets Net Positive Hospitality – a philosophy and approach that unlocks the hospitality industry’s potential to contribute to the world’s future.

With this shared vision, both the Alliance and Weeva are working within the tourism and hospitality industries to address the challenges of measuring GHG emissions and facilitating more transparent, credible reporting.

As an Affiliate Member, Weeva will be able to help shape and drive sustainable progress through having a seat at the Alliance’s Senior Advisory Council as well as access to the Alliance’s solutions and resources that are tailored specifically for the industry, by the industry.

Sustainable Hospitality Alliance CEO, Glenn Mandziuk, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Weeva as an Affiliate Member and look forward to collaborating and working towards our shared vision to improve the industry’s reporting and measuring standards. Weeva’s focus on using sustainability to create more efficient and resilient businesses reflects the Alliance’s ambitions to put the industry on a sustainable pathway to Net Positive Hospitality. Collaboration with our affiliate members is invaluable as we implement our bold 5-year strategy to help the industry give back more than it takes.”

Julie Cheetham, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Weeva commented:

“The pandemic brought home just how vulnerable the tourism and hospitality sectors were; and how connected they are to the natural world. Practically overnight, we went from being one of the world’s biggest employers to the brink of collapse. This sparked a fire in myself and Lindsey Walter; we wanted to build a tool to mainstream and democratise sustainable operations and enable even the most ‘green-averse’ properties to improve their impact. It’s our mission to ditch the jargon, greenwashing and marketing ploys to make sustainability work for profit, people, and the planet.”
